The Trans Pennine Trail follows the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal between Meadowhall and Rotherham. A map is available here.
The group met at 10am at Meadowhall South tram stop to begin the survey, travelling along the canal and river tow path terminating at Rotherham railway station at 3pm enjoying a rain free warm day. The path is a hard surface all the way with not too many walkers and cyclist being encountered.
The are around the tram stop is botanical very rich; we recorded 34 species before reaching the canal towpath
